The point of the feature is quite simple. If earlier creators could only reply using text, now replies to comments can be left in the form of a voice message, like in messengers. How useful will this be?
According to YouTube:
“We’re experimenting with a feature that enables creators to reply to comments with their voice. If you’re a creator in the test group, you can click the sound wave icon when responding to a comment > record a voice reply > then post it as a comment. While we gather feedback in the experiment phase, voice replies can only be left by creators on their own channel via the YouTube app on iOS, but all viewers and creators can engage with these comments.”
As always, YouTube is experimenting with different formats to increase viewer engagement. Thus, the audience will presumably become more loyal to creators. Earlier, a similar initiative took place when YouTube introduced video replies to comments in Shorts. Many users and creators liked this feature.
By the way, this feature is quite unique. No social network has ever come up with audio responses. TikTok and Instagram offer only video responses to comments.
Frankly speaking, it is still hard to imagine how successful this innovation will be. Nevertheless, we will continue to follow all the updates. Meanwhile, read our other articles and news in the Blog section.
