Instagram last week announced a major expansion of music capabilities in Reels. Now you can add up to 20 tracks to each video and visually combine audio with elements such as text, stickers, and clips while editing in the app.
“When you add multiple tracks, you’ll also be creating your own unique audio mix that will be attributed to you. So, as you unlock new ways to express yourself with audio, your fans can save and reuse your audio mixes,” the company said.
How can creators use this? We asked Mediacube YouTube Music expert Yahor Kvartalny about this:
“Putting together a full-fledged soundscape of 20 tracks that fits into 90 seconds of Reels doesn’t seem like the easiest task. But there is no doubt about the creativity of users. Sketches, where each character has their own musical theme, album teasers, thematic selections of songs — it’s very interesting to see what new forms of video this feature will allow to implement. The mechanism for monetizing the music used in such videos has not yet been fully revealed. If it is successfully debugged, then additional options will also open up for artists: more slots for using music — more opportunities to earn money. In general, as they say, let’s wait and see 🙂,” our colleague commented.
