YouTube has summarized the results of a big survey from Radius on how creators are using AI in their work. If we sum it up with a paraphrased quote: we can say that people already “learned to stop worrying and love Artificial Intelligence” a long time ago. There is every reason to believe that you and I have already stepped into a new era of content creation, and the current survey showcases this very clearly.
GenAI Creativity is Already Here
Overall, creators have always been quick to respond to new technologies. AI is certainly no exception, especially since it offers a wide range of tools that directly impact performance. So it’s no surprise that 92% of surveyed creators said they use GenAI tools in one way or another, and 74% said they are familiar or fairly familiar with the technology.
Big Screen Quality, Small Scale Budgets: Creators Level Up Content With GenAI
Many creators have ideas they can’t implement due to limited technology or tech resources. Now things have changed drastically, and 89% of YouTubers believe that very soon they will be able to match their capabilities in special effects, production design and cinematography even with the major studios.
We should also note that 26% said that one of the top reasons for them to use GenAI is to create better content.
Creator Businesses Go Global With GenAI
YouTube has over a billion users in 100 countries around the world who speak about 80 languages. Obviously, no matter how hard you try, it’s physically impossible to learn them all – and that’s where GenAI steps in.
Radius found that 87% of creators believe GenAI will likely enable creators to more easily and effectively export their content to countries around the world with GenAI-dubbing over the next 2 to 3 years.
Creators Want Clear Lines & Responsible Use of GenAI
At the same time, YouTube says creators are aware of their responsibility for using AI, and the platform itself is working to protect the community in the future.
“Our Community Guidelines support self expression while shielding viewers from harmful content. It’s what’s allowed us to foster the rich and diverse community that defines YouTube today,” – stated the company.
According to the survey, 74% of creators don’t mind having guidelines for responsibly posting GenAI content to social media and video platforms.
The GenAI Revolution Is Here, So What Now?
“YouTube only succeeds when our partners succeed, and it’s critical to our business to ensure GenAI is built and used responsibly and with creators in mind. We’re dedicated to working with creators, viewers, policymakers, and partners to ensure this powerful technology helps fuel human creativity, not replace it,” – YouTube said in a statement.
