YouTube Music: New Integration of AI Generated Radio Stations

This week, the YouTube team decided to treat their users. This time the changes will affect YouTube Music. The service is actively integrating AI into its work, which cannot but please. Let us share with you the details of the feature and the expert’s opinion in this article!

YouTube is trying out another way to use artificial intelligence, this time on YouTube Music. Service subscribers can now try out a new “AI-generated Radio” option that lets you personalize what you want to hear by simply describing it. Sounds incredible, doesn’t it?

How does it work?

It works quite simply: based on the dialog prompts and your selections in them, the service will pick a specific playlist for you. For example, if you are in the mood to listen to “dance music of the 2010s”, the system will automatically create a continuous stream of tracks just for this mood.

There’s actually nothing “magical” about the feature. Generally speaking, the system uses YouTube’s existing keyword search based on text tags for each track to ensure the music is relevant. The AI’s task in this case is to facilitate and systematize this search.

As we can see, YouTube is actively integrating AI not only into its workflows, but also into the services we all use on a daily basis.

By the way, the YouTube team is planning AI background generation for video clips, AI music generation for custom soundtracks, AI recommendations for new video ideas and even the capacity to skip ahead to the next most relevant part of a clip. We’re sure that YouTube’s integrations of AI into YouTube’s “life” won’t end at this point.

AI Generated Radio Stations: Expert Review

To complete the picture, we asked YouTube Music expert Yahor Kvartalny for his opinion on the upcoming innovations related to AI:

“The listener can set his or her own criteria for finding new music, which means more involvement in the process. In addition, there are opportunities for experimentation: “What will the algorithm suggest to me when I search for upbeat Cambodian hip-hop with female vocals?” So, many users may try this option out of pure curiosity.

Overall, it’s still hard to say how much this feature will become in demand and popular. But if the algorithms can really pick up very niche, not overhyped music, it could be useful for everyone. Listeners will be able to discover new music, niche artists will be able to access a wider audience, and the venue will be able to retain the user for a longer period of time.

Everyone stays on the plus side!”

For now, the feature has launched in test mode for YouTube Music Premium users. Our team will be actively monitoring the changes, so don’t miss our news in the “Blog” section.
