YouTube Premium but Cheaper: New Light Subscription

Over the past six months, users have noticed a rapid increase in the cost of YouTube Premium subscription. In this regard, many people have canceled their subscription and flooded YouTube support with complaints. This forced the YouTube team to come up with a new plan: YouTube Premium Lite. How will it work? We will tell you in this article.

YouTube Premium

YouTube Premium was launched in 2014 and didn’t immediately find its audience. In general, many people didn’t understand the point of subscribing just to get rid of ads. Nevertheless, as the features were expanded and exclusive tools were added, the audience began to take advantage of Premium’s perks more actively.

Currently, a YouTube Premium subscription costs around $16, which is pretty impressive for many users. The updated Lite plan will cost a little cheaper: $8.99 per month. Sounds tempting, doesn’t it? However, there are a couple of nuances that need to be talked about.

What is the specialty of YouTube Premium Lite?

YouTube Premium

Even though a Lite subscription costs 50% less than a regular Premium subscription, it is natural that not all features will be available to users. Thus, the Lite subscription will get rid of some ads (not all of them), but doesn’t include background video playback and 100% use of YouTube Music.

In our opinion, YouTube Premium Lite will be great for those who are contemplating the regular Premium and want to test the functionality of the subscription a little cheaper.

The subscription is currently being tested in Germany, Thailand and Australia. Moreover, Light subscription is being actively developed in India. Will it become a success?
