YouTube has announced a significant price increase for Premium subscriptions. In several countries, it will grow by up to 50%. YouTube Premium family and individual plans will go up in price in Europe and other regions, including the Middle East and Asia.
For example, in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, YouTube Premium family subscriptions will increase by €8, from €18 to €26, while individual subscriptions in those countries will rise by €2, to €14. In Switzerland, the family subscription will rise from 24 to 34 francs and the individual plan will rise from 16 to 18 francs. In Sweden, the family subscription will also increase in price, from 179 to 279 kronor.
This is YouTube Premium’s second price hike in the past year, and it will take effect in November. These changes can be seen as a general upward trend in Premium subscription prices in various countries.
While the most active discussions on Reddit concern users from Europe, the price increase will also affect subscribers in the Middle East, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. It is also reported that if you pay for a subscription through the App Store on iOS, you should be prepared for even higher prices due to commissions.
